Vacation or Roadtrip?

Some have said that we are on a vacation.  While I agree on some accounts, their are others with which I don't agree.

First of all, on vacation parents allow their children to eat whatever they what (at least mine do!).  Sadly, this is not the way it goes on a four month road trip.  In fact salads are being forced upon us in a rapidly increasing rate!

Then there is the fact that on vacation you don't have to workout or stay in shape.  Again, not the case on a four month road trip.  Workouts range from long and laborious to hurry-up-the-hotel-people-are-going-to-kick-us-out-if-we-don't-get-going!  But we try for something everyday.

On vacation you can break the bank, skies-the-limit, who cares if things run a little over "we're on vacation after all".  Unfortunately this is not the case not on a four month road trip.  We plan almost everything into our budget and if we go over we have to start cutting things from the agenda.  Of course when you are on vacation you don't want to miss a thing - on a fur month road trip sometimes you're worn out and missing a thing of two (or 10, or 50) is ok.

When on vacation you get to stay up late and get up early.  If we did that on a four month road trip we would become living zombies!  (Hey, sometimes we feel like zombies...uhm...)

And finally when on vacation you don't miss your friends very much.  You're going to be home in a week, or 2 after all.  But on a four month road trip you go through periods of homesickness and friend-missing-ness.

But now we start our return journey, and I get more excited to see you all by the day!
Agape, Micah
