How Do You Know?

How do you know you've been on the road too long?
1.  The leaves are beginning to change colors (beautiful, though).
2.  It's time for the THIRD haircut!
3.  You leave during baseball season and now you are watching the Pats cream the Bengals (albeit - while in a laundromat in 'enemy' territory - but victory was sweeeeetttttt!)
4.  The corn in KY was knee-high and green on our first pass, but now it is fully harvested and the brown stalks are cut short...

How do you know that you are getting closer to home?
1.  You've in the same time zone, WA-HOO!!
2.  It's getting GREEN (oh yes, Kermit, we agree it's lovely being green)!
3.  You're in a town with THREE Dunkin Donuts!!!  Yes, THREE!!!
4.  You're drinking an iced coffee and watching the Pats cream the Bengals (oh, did I mention that already?).

How do you know that you are still too far South?
1.  You spend the day (along with most of the state of KY) yard sale-ing the Hwy 31 Treasure Hunt on Saturday.  Yep, it's was at least 10 miles of junk!
2.  Two of the last 3 public toilets have had signs stating: Please Flush the Toilet (I'm not sure that I can think of anything non-derogatory to say...I'll just keep quite).
3.  You pass a sign that says: Used Cows for Sale (uuuhhhmmm...I don't really want to think to hard about that - but, I kid you not, there was a sign and that is what it said!).

We are a few night in a campground right on the Ohio River.  Our tent opens up to a view of the water, and there's a dock perfect for sitting just a few yards away.  We'll be praying for you all!

It won't be too much longer!

  1. So glad you guys enjoyed the Pats-Bengals game (as did I - just seeing Wes Welker on the field again was incredible!). However, I did feel the need to inform you that, yes, it is STILL baseball season as well... Somehow that fact has been receding from consciousness here in Boston lately (sigh!). Enjoy camping, and say "Hi" to West Va. (which is right across the Ohio River from you, I'm guessing) for me.
