We Go to the Winter Olympcis

After an enjoyable service at the crowded Calvary Chapel of Salt Lake, we went to the Olympics.

You must be wondering: how can you go to the Winter Olympics in the middle of July?

Ah yes, you are right!  But we did visit the place where the Winter Olympics were held in 2002 here in the Salt Lake area.  Part of the facility is now used to teach people to become ski jumpers (or how ever you say that).  We got to watch some people who were practicing ski jumping into the pool (the little red speck is a guy jumping!).  This is also the place were the time trials to qualify for any future Olympics are now held.

We got see the bobsled, luge, and skeleton track.  While we were there two or three bobsleds went down the track. It was pretty cool - they go FAST (for 60 bucks you could go yourself, if your over 14, mom was dieing to go!).

The place also had a museum, where we learned some pretty cool things.  Did you know that the Great Salt Lake is key in helping to make the best snow for skiing and snowboarding anywhere...WOW.  In the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, was the first time a black woman won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

After an interesting, fun time we went on a super cool ride to the top of a mountain and then down through a beautiful canyon in Uncle Steve's wicked cool convertible.

See ya,
Dylan

  1. Eyes up Dyl. You're going to miss the sky jump! Is that bubbles in the pool??? Does that help with the landing?

  2. Why didn't "the wild one", "Mom Unleashed", go? I would have loved to see a picture of that!!!

Jason and Sam were baptized yesterday in the pool by Don McGrath. Tell your mom we are sending video clips to her e-mail address later today.

    Miss you guys!!
