Happy birthday to Noah!!! And for Noah's 14th birthday he decided to go into San Francisco...Chinatown to be exact. Chinatown is precisely what it sounds like, a Chinese town. It's the largest population of Chinese in one place outside of China! Of course, the town isn't full of just Chinese people, and although they make up the majority, Chinatown has become somewhat of a tourist trap. So even though three out of five people you pass are speaking fluent Chinese, the two 'left overs' will be carrying a bag laden with Chinatown merchandise (there were 4 of us, so we messed up those odds). On the streets it looked like a town you would see in the movies. It had everything from the hanging Chinese lanterns to building styled to look like ones from ancient China. Very cool!
Afterward we went down to Fisherman's Wharf and then Pier 39 (more shopping) and found two things of interest. First a large amount of seals on the dock. They were fun to watch and we saw one that was the outcast of the group. While the others were in a giant pile, one sat on a dock a good distance away. And secondly, an entire store that was devoted to lefties, such as myself, Bob Dylan, Bill Gates, Ramses II, Ronald Regan, and Ned Flander.

Also just to round out our trip to San Francisco, we road the trolleys. The trolleys were the most fun, in my opinion, when they went downhill.

Did the trolley driver ding out Happy Birthday?...

We went into that LEFTIE store too ~ very cool ~ Mike is a leftie, so he really really liked it.
