Hail can be seen at the bottom. |
We took this into consideration as we began to take down our campsite this morning. When I say "began" I mean "began." About five minutes in it began to rain, not bad, just a little sprinkle. We casually stored as many things as we thought was necessary. What we thought was not enough. Dyl and I got in the tent to finish packing what was in there. After a minute or so the rain stopped, we got out and continued packing. Then it began raining again, and, again, D and I got back in the tent. We waited. And waited. And waited. Then the rain changed from pitter-patter to thunk and pop. Dyl took a look outside and said, "Um, Micah take a look outside... It's hailing!" I was skeptical, I mean we're in Colorado and it's August for goodness sake! But it was hailing! Unreal! (But it's in the picture, we have proof!) Afterward we started drying off the tent when the camp owner came telling us that we have fifteen minutes until we have to leave! So we start to hurry. The tent was almost dry. But it was not to be; for at that moment it started to rain again! Now with five minutes we had no choice but to pack the top of our car (affectionately called the 'pimple') with several things that were still wet. Not something I would advise. We ended up leaving at the exact check out time: 11:03 (no kidding the campsite guidelines had 11:03 as check out time, really!).
The rest of the day was spent driving...and driving. Eventually, we ended up in a very nice hotel where we saw a survival show that gave me the tidbit about staying dry.
Agape, Micah
